2018 TEAMS "WOWED" THE CROWD
The fifth annual Eggs on the Beach drew record participation and resulted in some big winners. The Gulf Restaurant was awarded the Judges First Place Trophy and Sacred Cue earned first place Peoples’ Choice Award. The Rotary Club of Destin was the top non-profit team winner and Saltwater Restaurant Group took best booth display in addition to second place People’s Choice and second place Judge’s Award Winner. Presented by Bay Breeze Patio, Eggs on the Beach celebrated foods cooked on the Big Green Egg with nearly 30 cook teams competing for trophies and prizes for their creative recipes, which were served on a beautiful Saturday at Seascape Resort.

There were 10 winning teams at the 4th Annual Eggs on the Beach Cooking Competition, including Judges Award winners, People’s Choice Award winners and People’s Choice Non-Profit Award winners.
More than 30 cook teams competed, presenting their best recipes cooked on the Big Green Egg smoker/grill on a beautiful Saturday at Seascape Resort in Miramar Beach.
The following are the 2017 Winners:
People’s Choice category:
First Place: Saltwater Restaurant Group (sea scallops with smoked marinara sauce, filet mignon with Knob Creek maple-bacon glaze and Kentucky Mule with Knob Creek Bourbon
Second Place: InDyne-RT&T (prepared grilled oysters and grilled shrimp with Cajun BBQ sauce on a grilled baguette)
Third Place: Beauchamp Commercial (Trigger Fish tacos with mango slaw)
Eggs on the Beach also hosted a team of celebrity judges, including: Chef Shane Quinlan, Chef Giovanni Filippone, Chef Dominic Damiano, Author Mary Kay Andrews, and Chef Dan Pettis.
The Grand Judges’ Award: Beauchamp Commercial (Trigger Fish tacos with homemade mango slaw)
Second Place Judges' Award: The Gulf on Okaloosa Island (Smoked brisket with fig BBQ, pickled peppers and coriander)
Third Place Judges' Award: Smokin’ Nuts (Hal’s Pork ‘N Beans with Knob Creek Bourbon, bacon, peach, and sweet onion beans topped with smoked pork belly)
First Place: Air Commando Association, earning a $3,000 donation (marinated chicken thigh topped with siracha mayo, grilled pineapple and swiss on Naan bread)
Second Place: Rotary Club of Destin, earning a $2,000 donation (SHISH-KA-KNOBS, chicken skewers with raspberry, habanero and Knob Creek sauce)
Third Place: Brock lawn & Pest Control for Fisher House of the Emerald Coast earned $1,000 (pork with pineapple recipe).
Knob Creek & Best Decor Category:
Best Recipes with Knob Creek Bourbon: Fort Walton Beach Medical Center and Oxygen4Heroes
Best Decor: Saltwater Restaurant Group
Total Raised for Local Non-Profits:
The fourth annual Eggs On the Beach EggFest cooking competition raised $35,000 for local non-profit organizations.
Proceeds from Eggs on the Beach benefited two local non-profits--Food for Thought and the Fisher House of the Emerald Coast, which both received $14,500 donation as the result of the 2017 EggFest!
Located on Eglin Air Force Base, the Fisher House provides a "home away from home" for military families so they can be together during medical treatment. With food pantries in Santa Rosa Beach and Destin, Food For Thought helps fight food insecurity by providing backpacks filled with healthy, easy to prepare foods for 1,620 students who are dependent on free or reduced school meals.
In addition, three non-profit cook teams earned $6,000 ($3,000, $2,000, & $1,000) toward their causes.
